How to keep winter party guests dry and warm

How
Party season is upon us and who said you can’t throw a Christmas party outdoors? If you have decided to brave the great outdoors for your festive celebrations this year, we’ll show you how to keep guests warm and dry.

Hot chocolate bar

Festive mulled wine, mugs of steaming hot chocolate, flavoursome coffee and strong tea will all go down well at an outdoor winter party. A hot drinks cart is the best way to tackle the cold and keep guests warm from the inside out, and if you throw in your favourite liqueur and maybe a marshmallow or three what more could you want?

Warm and hearty food

Warm comfort food at an outdoor winter party can be just the ticket with great options including a hog roast, wood fired pizzas (including Christmas dinner pizzas), or even a swinging grill that guests can gather round. If you want to offer more festive food choices, Christmas street food and Christmas street food sandwiches are sure to be a hit!

Provide shelter

Gazebos and marquees are a great way to provide shelter for outdoor guests and will help to create cosy and intimate spaces for guests to gather and chat. Adding sidewalls or curtains to a marquee will instantly transform it by keeping draughts at bay, and the addition of soft, sparkling illumination in the way of festoon lighting or fairy lights will create the perfect atmosphere. Where outdoor space is at a premium, pagoda marquees are a great solution. These elegant structures feature curved and pointed roofs (hence the name), with curtain sides that can be closed for warmth.

Provide heaters

Fire pits are a great heat source for outdoor parties but need careful supervision, especially where there are young children. Where you have provided shelter in the form of marquees or pagoda marquees, a marquee heater is a safe and efficient way to ensure guests stay warm. Positioned out of the way outside the marquee, the heater pumps hot air through ducting in the marquee, and the temperature can be controlled by an indoor thermostat.

Seating

Much of today’s patio furniture has some metal content which can get extremely cold in winter. Cover seating with throws and blankets or, where budget allows, consider chair hire. Adding rugs on the ground will also keep guests warmer underfoot and will provide some comfort against hard surfaces, while blankets are great for wrapping up in!
